Jane Heald, who comes from Manhasset, Long Island, New York, began playing cello at age 10 and has been with The Phil since 1992.

Also a pianist, she teaches private students and is faculty cello at IPFW. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts in music at SUNY Fredonia and her master’s degree at the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music. Before joining The Phil, she played for the Portland (ME) Symphony and Opera, the Cincinnati Ballet and Chamber Orchestra, the West Virginia Symphony and the Columbus Symphony.  She has been a soloist with the Ball State University Orchestra and has appeared at the Manchester Music Festival and with the Portland String Quartet.
